Velodrome & Observation Building & Stands
Located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. 250-meter track is constructed of concrete with a 42.5 degree embankment in the corners and a 17 degree embankment on the front and back straights. There are roughly 25 outdoor Velodromes in the US. Smiley Engineering, Inc. designed the concrete structure in collaboration with architectural plans from German Velodrome architect Ralph Schürmann. A tunnel was designed 20’-0” below high grade for the bikers to enter the infield of the track from the below grade elevator.
